Housed inside Caribe Jewelry, a Cartagena jewelry store, is the Emerald Museum (Museo de la Esmeralda). This specialty museum displays a beautiful collection of Colombian emeralds and rare emeralds from around the world. A tour through the museum will help you learn about these precious gems and experience a little history of the brilliant green stone.

You will see an exhibition displaying a variety of colorful gemstones. You will also be given insider information into the region's mining history, including an emerald mine replica that makes you feel like you're in an actual mining tunnel! In the Hall of Specimens are displays of raw emerald crystals and an exhibition of the work done by miners. Another room highlights emeralds throughout history.

Guided tours are available at the Emerald Museum on Bolivar Square in the Old City. There is a tour available in the first Emerald Museum to open in Cartagena, located in the Caribe Jewelry Factory. Afterward, you can visit the museum showrooms to see a selection of gorgeous emerald jewelry for sale.
