Museum of Olympic Glory, Tashkent

The Museum of Olympic Glory in Tashkent stands as a tribute to the Olympic movement and Uzbekistan's sporting achievements. Established on September 1, 1996, it holds the distinction of being the first Olympic museum on the Asian continent. The inauguration was graced by the President of the International Olympic Committee, Juan Antonio Samaranch, highlighting its global significance.

The museum’s mission extends beyond mere exhibition; it promotes the ideals of the Olympic Games, encourages physical education and sports, and celebrates Uzbekistan's national games. It also plays a crucial role in bolstering the global prestige of Uzbek athletes. With over 11,000 exhibits, the museum offers a comprehensive view of Olympic history and Uzbekistan’s athletic accomplishments. These items include trophies, medals, badges, pictures, and memorabilia sourced from countries like the USA, Spain, and Switzerland.

Unique items include the Olympic Gold Order presented by the IOC to President Islam Karimov for his contributions to international sports. Other notable displays include the "Golden Necklace" of the International Amateur Wrestling Federation, the gold belt and wreath of boxing champion A. Grigoryan, and medals from the Olympic Games.

The upper floor offers a chronological presentation of the Olympic Games. Visitors can explore the clothing, equipment, photographs, and awards of Uzbek athletes who have competed on the world stage. Exhibits also focus on the successes of athletes in world championships, Asian and Central Asian Games, and international tournaments.

A video library featuring iconic moments from the Olympic Games allows visitors to relive memorable competitions. Additionally, the museum holds an extensive collection of documents detailing the history of physical education and sports in Uzbekistan.

The museum is an evolving institution, with new exhibits regularly enriching its collections. It serves not only as a historical repository but also as a vibrant hub for events that celebrate and promote sportsmanship and the Olympic spirit in Uzbekistan.
