Nashville Riverfront (Music City Star Station), Nashville
Nashville Riverfront functions as a stop along the regional rail line in Nashville known as the Music City Star. Presently, it serves as the westernmost point of this rail line. You can find this station situated on South 1st Avenue in downtown Nashville, close to the Shelby Street Bridge. It's worth noting that there are no parking facilities available at this station; however, there is a connection to bus services provided by MTA buses.
The current location of the station was originally occupied by a train depot constructed around 1902. This depot served as both a passenger station for the Tennessee Central Railway and had several tracks for freight transportation. Passenger services at this original station ceased in 1955.
The excavation work for the new station began in 2004 but encountered delays lasting several months due to the discovery of historical artifacts at the site, including remnants of a foundry. Actual construction of the new station commenced in August 2005. The design of the new station incorporates post and beam architecture, aiming to evoke the ambiance of an Old World train station. The station officially commenced its services on September 18, 2006.
