National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan (must see)

Founded in 1895 as the City Public Museum, the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan is an architectural and historical monument of Russia. Based on archaeologist A.F. Likhachev’s private collection of 40,000 items from the 1890s, today its contains over 800,000 pieces, including a unique ethnographic exhibition of national costumes, household items and a great collection of stuffed animals.
