Neckar Park, Stuttgart

NeckarPark, situated in the Bad Cannstatt district of Stuttgart, is a prominent mixed-use development featuring residential spaces and dynamic event venues. This area, positioned on the right bank of the Neckar River, occupies a significant portion of the "Wasen" district. It extends to include the north-eastern sector of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Untertürkheim. The redevelopment of this former freight yard is set to accommodate over 2,000 residents from 2021 onwards, with plans for around 850 apartments along with commercial spaces.

Spread across 25 hectares, NeckarPark is not just a residential zone but a vibrant cultural and recreational hub. It hosts several high-profile sports and cultural events throughout the year. Among these, the Stuttgart German Masters show jumping contest takes place annually in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle. The Cannstatt Wasen, occupying 14 hectares within the park, is the site of the traditional Cannstatter Fun Fair, drawing crowds with its rich history and festive atmosphere.

The park’s event calendar is packed with major attractions including the Stuttgart Spring Festival every April, the Stuttgart half marathon in June, and the Neckarpark festival which features an open day across all buildings every four years. The season rounds off with the Cannstatter Volksfest in late September, one of the area's largest and most celebrated events.

NeckarPark exemplifies a successful integration of living space and leisure facilities, making it a cornerstone of urban development and a central venue for Stuttgart’s most significant events, effectively blending sports, culture, and residential life into a cohesive community space.
