Neupfarrplatz (New Parish Square), Regensburg (must see)
New Parish Square is a historic square located in the heart of Regensburg's old town. Its origins can be traced back to a significant event in 1519 when the Jewish population, which had settled in the area around 1000 AD, was expelled. This expulsion led to the destruction of all the houses belonging to the Jewish community, as well as the synagogue in the Jewish quarter. The citizens of the city not only razed these structures but also pillaged the stones, utilizing them as building material for other purposes.
Throughout its history, New Parish Square has held a central position in the narrow and winding streets of the old town, making it a hub for gatherings and markets. This prominence as a central meeting place and marketplace has persisted into modern times.
