Palacongressi di Rimini, Rimini

Palacongressi di Rimini is the largest congress building built from scratch in Italy, recognized as one of the most impressive in Europe. It is designed and built with respect for the environment, technological innovation and flexibility of use. Its spaces can accommodate congress events of all sizes and types: from business conventions to medical-scientific symposia, from religious gatherings to associative, cultural and sporting meetings.

The development of the congress sector in Rimini began in the mid -seventies. At that time, Rimini, thanks to its great receptivity, was the undisputed capital of seaside tourism, are the first national and international meetings . But the congresses were still sporadic episodes. In fact, most of the hotels were only open in the summer. In the eighties instead, the season of the great political congresses opened, hosted in the pavilions of the old fair district.

In addition to the great visibility, these events also represented an opportunity to extend the bathing season and offer new opportunities to traditional tourism that was showing the first signs of crisis. The congress thus acquires importance and begins to no longer be a simple substitute for seaside tourism.

But only in the nineties did the awareness spread that the proactivity of the operators involved in the world of conferences had to be included in an organic project and the entire supply chain organized and put into a system. The birth of the Convention Bureau of the Rimini Riviera in 1994, today the Event & Conference Business Unit of Rimini Fiera spa, together with investments such as the construction of the new Palacongressi in Rimini, show that the territory has decided to believe in the future congress of the city.
