Parque Diversiones, San Jose
Amusement Park (Parque Diversiones), also known as The Dr. Roberto Ortiz Brenes Amusement Park, is a popular entertainment park located in San José. The park was founded in 1981 and was named after Dr. Roberto Ortiz Brenes, who proposed the idea of a theme park to raise funds for the National Children's Hospital.
The park's motto, "healthy children help sick children," reflects its philanthropic mission to support the hospital through its profits. The park's various attractions and rides are designed to cater to visitors of all ages, with a particular focus on children.
One of the main highlights of the Amusement Park is its collection of roller coasters. Visitors can experience the thrill of different roller coasters, including the Vekoma Whirlwind-model coaster, Bocaraca; the Vekoma Boomerang roller coaster, Bumeran; and the Zamperla wild mouse roller coaster, Torbellino. Two of the roller coasters, Teletren and Ghibli, are specifically designed for children.
Aside from roller coasters, there are also three water coasters: Splash Caribe, Reventazón, and Pacuare. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of other rides and attractions, such as the Disko, Skymaster, Torre, Tornado, Conchas Locas, and adult bumper cars. There is also Chicago's wheel (Rueda de Chicago), a Ferris wheel that offers stunning views of the park and the surrounding area.
For families with young children, there are many kiddie attractions located at Uncle Rabbit Square (Plaza Tio Conejo), a themed area specifically designed for kids. These attractions include the Pachuco Train (Tren Pachuco) that takes visitors around the park, as well as the arcade games in Electrónicos.
