Parroquia San Juan Apóstol, Lima
Located in the bustling city of Lima, Parroquia San Juan Apóstol stands as a testament to both faith and architectural excellence. Its roots trace back to October 31, 1960, when Archbishop Juan Landazuri's decree set the stage for its establishment. Since its inception, this congregation has embarked on a remarkable journey, not only in matters of spirituality but also in the realm of architectural aesthetics.
The church boasts a contemporary architectural style that warmly welcomes visitors. Its striking façade exudes an air of serenity with its tranquil pastel colors, evoking feelings of peace and spiritual inspiration.
Saint John, known as the beloved disciple of Jesus, is said to have been the youngest among Jesus' followers, and he was the last to pass away. The Lord chose him to witness pivotal moments like the Transfiguration and the prayer in the Garden of Olives. Remarkably, he was the only apostle who did not meet a martyr's end. Jesus called him to be one of his own while John was fishing by the seashore.
From its inception, the church has been overseen by diocesan priests. The initial parish priest was Father Roberto Vásquez, who initiated the construction of the church. In 1979, Father Luis Enrique Sánchez took over as the parish priest, overseeing the expansion of the church and the construction of the third floor of the parish house. From 2015 to the present day, Father Miguel Ángel Vassallo has served as the parish priest.
