Post Office Münsterplatz, Bonn

Post Office Münsterplatz, Bonn

The Post Office in the Münsterplatz is housed in an impressive yellow building. Initially, the mansion was built as the house of the city dean. After a while, the place was passed over to Count Furstenberg and his family; some still call it the Furstenberg Palace. During the Second World War, the building was exposed to considerable damage, necessitating subsequent renovational works. The most important reconstruction after the war took place in 1988, when the facade was completely renovated in order to abide by the rules of the Heritage Authority. The facade is definitely the most beautiful part of the building, due to its masive colonnades, balcony and sculpted figures. The building houses the post office since 1877.
