Pre-Columbian Gold Museum Gift Shop, San Jose

The Pre-Columbian Gold Museum in San Jose is a treasure trove of exquisite jewelry designs and replicas that will enchant visitors. The museum is located in a subterranean building beneath the Culture Square (Plaza de la Cultura). The museum boasts a collection of 3,567 Pre-Columbian artifacts, including 1,586 gold objects that date back to 300 to 400 BC to 1550 AD.

The gold collection is a testament to the craftsmanship of the Pre-Columbian period and features animal figurines, amulets, earrings, erotic statuettes, and dioramas, including a life-sized gold warrior figure and a detailed scale model of a Pre-Columbian village.

Additionally, the replica of a pre-Columbian grave containing 88 gold objects is also on display. These objects were unearthed on a banana plantation in southeastern Costa Rica in the 1950s and are an excellent representation of the importance of gold in Costa Rican history as a symbol of authority.

The gift shop in the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in unique and exquisite jewelry designs. The shop features Pre-Columbian replicas and modern designs in gold (14K solid and 24K plated) and silver (950).

The jewelry is designed and made by artists who produce pieces exclusively for the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum. These jewelry designers work in gold, silver, glass, semi-precious stones, clay, and recyclable materials, and their prices range from $10 to the hundreds.
