Ribersborgsstranden (Ribersborg Beach), Malmo

Ribersborg Beach (Ribersborgsstranden), affectionately known as “Ribban” by locals, is a popular bathing and leisure area located just a few kilometers from central Malmö. This long and narrow beach stretches along the coast between Västra Hamnen and the Limhamn district, providing a picturesque waterfront destination for locals and visitors alike.

The beach is divided into various zones, catering to different activities and interests. Closest to Västra Hamnen, there’s a dedicated dog rest area where pet owners can enjoy the seaside with their furry companions. A bit further along is the renowned Ribersborg Cold Bath House, where visitors can experience traditional Swedish cold bathing.

Ribersborg Beach is lined with a cycling and walking path that runs parallel to the shore, ideal for a stroll, inline skating, or cycling. This path used to run alongside the “Sillabanan” railway to Limhamn, which was dismantled in 2009. Between the pathway and Ribersborg’s residential area lies Öresundsparken, a serene green space that connects the beach to the rest of the city.

On the southern side of the former railway, you’ll find the expansive Limhamn Field, featuring football, rugby, and American football facilities, as well as open lawns perfect for picnics and outdoor activities. The northeastern section of the Limhamn Field houses equestrian sports facilities and a roller skating hockey field.

Continuing west along the beach, visitors will find several specialized areas, such as a disabled-accessible pool and a designated nude beach located at Jetty 10. Further westward is the Lagoon’s marina, which caters to boating enthusiasts. At the far western end of the beach lies Hylliekroken’s Golf Center, complete with a nine-hole course, a driving range, and a mini-golf course.

Today, Ribersborg Beach stands as a testament to Malmö’s dedication to providing accessible and diverse recreational opportunities for everyone, from sunbathers to sports enthusiasts. Its proximity to the city center and the wide range of facilities make it a favorite spot for locals looking to unwind by the sea.
