Santa Cruz Cultural Center, Santa Cruz de la Sierra

Santa Cruz Cultural Center (Centro de la Cultura Plurinacional) is a vibrant cultural hub operated by the Fundación Cultural del Banco Central de Bolivia (FCBCB). Founded in 2009 in a former bank building donated by the Central Bank, it gained full institutional status in 2013 under Bolivian law and has since operated autonomously to champion the nation’s rich and layered cultural identity.

As a centre of artistic convergence, the venue offers year‑round programming across disciplines: temporary and permanent visual art exhibitions, theatre, dance, concerts, film, and educational workshops. Its curatorial vision brings together works from indigenous and mestizo communities-especially from eastern Bolivia-with national and international practices, fostering intercultural dialogue and celebration of plurinationality.

A special highlight for visitors is the Isaac Sandoval Rodríguez Library (Biblioteca Isaac Sandoval Rodríguez), inaugurated in 2015. Its collection includes more than 12,000 donated volumes, now systematically catalogued and integrated into programmes like “Biblioteca Activa” that combine reading with artistic and educational activities to encourage local research and lifelong learning.

The Cultural Center also hosts signature events, such as Charango Meetings (Encuentros de Charango), which unite prominent and emerging musicians to celebrate Bolivia’s musical heritage through free public performances. Whether you're an art lover, music fan, student, or curious traveller, this dynamic institution invites you to experience a creative space that reflects Bolivia’s diverse cultural tapestry while offering workshops, performances, and exhibitions in a welcoming, free-entry environment.
