Schoonover Studios, Wilmington
In 1906, eminent illustrator Howard Pyle helped found Schoonover Studios in Wilmington, the hub of American illustration at the beginning of the 20th century. One of his protégés, Frank Schoonover, later became the owner of the studios. The studios are named after Rodney Frank E. Schoonover who worked and taught here for about 70 years. The majority of his work and related memorabilia are displayed at the studios. Special exhibitions dedicated to American illustration and the work of regional artists from 1850 to 1950 are held here throughout the year. Studio #1 and the adjoining Rodney Street Gallery are open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Wilmington Introduction Walking Tour
Wilmington is the largest city in Delaware. It lies at the confluence of the Brandywine and Christina Rivers. Wilmington was originally home to the Lenape people. However, the land was purchased from Chief Mattahorn by the Swedish South Company in 1638. They built Fort Christina at the mouth of what would later be called the Christina River.
