Shaanxi Provincial TV Tower, Xian

Shaanxi Provincial TV Tower, Xian (must see)

The Shaanxi Provincial TV Tower is a tall structure used for communication and broadcasting signals, located in the southern outskirts of Xi'an. It was established in 1987 and stands at a height of 245 meters (804 feet). This tower is constructed entirely from concrete and serves as a telecommunications tower. Interestingly, local residents sometimes use it as a platform for parachute jumping. It holds the distinction of being the tallest building in the city.

The Shaanxi Provincial TV Tower has evolved into a notable attraction in Xi'an. It features a large LED screen known as the "Light of the West," which enhances the tower's beauty, blending both the historical significance and contemporary appeal of the ancient city.

In October 2011, the renovated "Light of the West" was officially opened to tourists, transforming it into a new tourist destination offering urban sightseeing, shopping, dining, entertainment, exhibitions, and other services. When visiting the "Light of the West," you can enjoy daytime views of the tower's impressive structure and admire its majestic presence. At night, the tower takes on a captivating appearance with a "sapphire" glow embedded in the western sky, creating a bright and captivating spectacle.
