Silver Tower, Frankfurt

The Silver Tower held the distinction of being Germany's tallest building until 1991. It houses the primary administrative offices of one of Germany's major banks, the Dresdner Bank. Situated at Jurgen Ponto Platz in Frankfurt's financial district, this skyscraper was built between 1975 and 1978 by the international company Bilfinger Berger, headquartered in Mannheim. Its striking façade is composed of aluminum and glass, imparting a distinctive silver sheen.

The plaza upon which the Silver Tower stands is named after Jurgen Ponto, a former CEO of Dresdner Bank who tragically lost his life at the hands of the Red Army at the time. This tower boasts a height of 166 meters, spanning 32 floors. Its design features four structures with rounded edges, a unique architectural trait among Frankfurt's skyscrapers. Notably, electrical wiring is concealed beneath the upper floors, and the air conditioning system is installed above the suspended ceilings, resulting in the elevation of the floors.

Adding to the building's appeal, you'll find a concert hall within, hosting performances by artists sponsored by the Jurgen Ponto Foundation. Furthermore, a small gallery on the top floor showcases neon artwork, with neon art adorning the hallways as well. At the pinnacle of the tower lies an auditorium offering breathtaking panoramic views, thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows.
