St. Augustine Church, Miami

Saint Augustine Church is a historic Catholic church located in the heart of Miami's Little Havana neighborhood. It was founded in 1920 by a group of Cuban immigrants who were seeking a spiritual home in their new country.

Originally, the community held services in a small chapel, but as it grew, a larger church was needed. In 1925, the current church building was constructed in a Spanish Mission-style, with a stucco exterior and red-tile roof. The interior features beautiful stained glass windows and a carved wooden altar, as well as a large mural of Saint Augustine on the ceiling.

In addition to its religious and cultural significance, Saint Augustine Church has also been a site of historical significance. In the 1960s, the church was a gathering place for Cuban exiles who were organizing against the Castro regime. It was also a site of protest and advocacy during the civil rights movement, with the church's leaders speaking out against segregation and discrimination.
