St. Michaelskloster (St. Michael's Monastery), Heidelberg

Michaelskloster or St. Michael’s Monastery was a small church founded in 870. Today one could see that St. Michael’s Monastery surviving only in ruins. However, visitors are fond of such places and very interested about its historical meaning.

The ruins of the basilica church of the Monastery of St. Michael, built in 1023, are on the primary summit. Within the nave are traces of the Roman temple of Mercury.
