Suna and Inan Kiraç Kaleiçi Museum, Antalya

The Suna & İnan Kıraç Kaleiçi Museum, located in the Barbaros District of Kaleiçi, comprises two registered buildings designated as cultural properties for preservation. Its primary objective is to safeguard elements of our traditional culture and pass them down to future generations, making it one of Antalya's most exclusive private museums.

The first building underwent meticulous restoration between 1993 and 1995 when Suna and İnan Kıraç acquired it due to its severely dilapidated state. This two-story Turkish house features a traditional outer sofa. Following necessary repairs and adorned with hand-drawn ornaments, the house was transformed into an ethnography museum. It presents sections from the life of Kaleiçi during the latter half of the 19th century, incorporating special effects. Within the museum's rooms, visitors can explore various aspects of traditional Turkish Folk Culture, including coffee offerings, the groom's shave, and henna nights.

The second building is an Orthodox church dedicated to Aya Yorgi. Its rectangular structure boasts intricately hand-drawn decorations on the ceiling and interior walls. The museum showcases a diverse array of cultural and artistic pieces from the Suna and İnan Kıraç collections. After undergoing restoration, the church was converted into an exhibition space. It also hosts various cultural events.

The Suna & İnan Kıraç Kaleiçi Museum endeavors to faithfully present the traditional architectural style and lifestyle of its era while preserving it for generations to come. It stands as a remarkable cultural institution that merits a visit due to its cultural richness.
