Tunnel Mural, Columbia

Tunnel Mural is a mural in downtown created by local artist Blue Sky. It's a sizable artwork, measuring 50 by 75 feet, on the side of a building near a city parking lot. What sets Tunnel Mural apart is its ability to make viewers feel like they're looking into another world, as if there's a rocky gateway beneath a different moon.

The mural uses a technique called trompe l'oeil to create a convincing sense of depth, and Blue Sky's ongoing efforts to maintain and improve it ensure its realism. Conveniently, Tunnel Mural is right next to another well-known landmark, Busted Plug, making it a two-for-one attraction for visitors to the area.
