Turnul Zincarilor (The Tinsmiths' Tower), Sibiu

The Tinsmiths' Tower, situated within the citadel of Sighișoara in Mureș County, Romania, stands out among the nine towers for its distinctive architecture. Soaring to a height of 25 meters, the tower exhibits a unique design: starting with a square base, which is part of the old tower, it transitions into a pentagonal shape with a brick trunk, and then abruptly expands into an octagonal structure. The roof, featuring a slightly unbalanced design, takes on a hexagonal plan, while the interior woodwork showcases the masterful craftsmanship of Sighișoara's carpenters.

With its exceptional defensive position, the Tinsmiths' Tower, alongside the Clock Tower, plays a crucial role in the citadel's fortifications. In 1583, the tower underwent repairs, and it is believed that the construction of the small pentagonal bastion, facing the Lower Town, took place during this period. The facades of the tower still bear witness to the remnants of bullets fired during the Hungarian siege of 1704 to 1706, adding historical depth to this remarkable structure.
