A Guide to Dalat, Vietnam: A Dreamy Getaway, Dalat, Vietnam
Over the course of the long national holiday weekend (29/04 – 03/05), we decided to head 300km North East of Ho Chi Minh City towards the cool city of Dalat. After being in the hot, sweaty city for a while, Dalat seemed like the perfect getaway; with its clear fresh air, emerald mountains and dazzling lakes.
So, you may ask, what is there to do in such a small place? Well… here are our top picks of fun and relaxing activities to do in Dalat. Some of these activities may need transport. If you are competent at driving a motorbike you can hire one at one of the many rental shops. Alternatively, you can book a tour with Easy Riders; who will take the stress away of driving and navigating the mountainous roads.
Canyoning – The most popular activity among travellers. You can book a canyoning tour from one of the many tour shops or from your accommodation. The tour is packed with high adrenaline, fun and sometimes emotionally draining activities (but don’t let my personal experience put you off!). Your morning will start with a short drive down to the forest. From here you will leave the comfort of your air-conditioned minivan and begin the 30-minute hike through the lush, green forest of Da Lat. Your first task will be to abseil down the 25 foot Datalan Waterfall before letting go and plunging down 6 meters into the air before hitting the river. After this you will continue your hike through the forest and spend the day abseiling down a few more waterfalls and jumping off cliffs (all of these optional, of course). Click here to book your canyoning experience before you go. ...... (follow the instructions below for accessing the rest of this article).
