Chartrons Antiques Hunting Walk, Bordeaux

Chartrons Antiques Hunting Walk (Self Guided), Bordeaux

Chartrons is a beautiful part of Bordeaux, and was once the center of its wine trade. The gorgeous district is characterized by wine houses, grand 19th-century homes and narrow workers’ streets. Amid them all is a clutch of delightful antique shops featuring a large treasure trove of objects from times past.

One of the principle places for antique finds is the area around the Place du Marché du Chartrons and rue Notre Dame. On this street, you will find Le Village, an antiques gallery that first opened its doors around 30 years ago. It is filled with the fabulous finds of 35 dealers, such as paintings, sculptures, decorative objects, silverware, watches and furniture.

If you are in the area on a Sunday morning, browse the food and book market that takes place along the Quai des Chartrons. Another standout attraction is the Foire à la Brocante des Quinconces. This is a vast fair set on a huge square that takes place twice a year, in the spring and the autumn. The popular event is the oldest flea market and antiques fair in Bordeaux and in the Aquitaine region. More than 200 exhibitors display a wide range of objects from the current and previous centuries.
