Fashion Show Mall, Las Vegas

Located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Fashion Show is a prominent shopping mall that emerged from the joint efforts of Summa Corporation and Ernest W. Hahn. Construction work commenced on March 15, 1979, and the mall officially opened on February 14, 1981. As the first major shopping center on the Strip and the third in the Las Vegas Valley, its success triggered the development of additional retail hubs, such as the Forum Shops.

In the 1990s, The Rouse Company assumed ownership of Fashion Show and initiated an extensive renovation and expansion project. This ambitious endeavor, spanning from 2000 to 2003, resulted in the introduction of new stores, dining establishments, and an innovative feature—a retractable runway for fashion shows.

Additionally, a plaza was incorporated along the Strip, featuring an architectural marvel known as the Cloud. This steel structure serves as both a shade provider for pedestrians and a captivating nighttime projection surface for advertising purposes.

Fashion Show Mall initially spanned 822,700 square feet and included anchor tenants like Bullock's, Diamond's, Goldwater's, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue. These luxury retailers introduced esteemed designer brands to Las Vegas. The mall had 130 tenant spaces and 87 stores at its debut.

In the early 2000s, Fashion Show Mall doubled its size to around 1,900,000 square feet, becoming one of the largest malls in the US and surpassing The Boulevard Mall as Las Vegas' largest. The expansion brought in popular tenants like Abercrombie & Fitch, Ann Taylor Loft, Claire's, Guess, and the first Apple Store in Las Vegas. Over time, the mall also added Banana Republic, Henri Bendel, and Disney Store to its lineup.
