Möschebrunnen, Aachen
The Möschebrunnen is a bronze fountain created in 1978 by the Freiohl sculptor Bonifatius Stirnberg in Aachen.
It stands on the former Singvogelmarkt, which is now called Münsterplatz. Mösch is Öcher Platt and means spatz, which is why the fountain is also called Spatzenbrunnen. Stirnberg created several objects in Aachen, including the puppet fountain and the group of horses in front of the main station.
The Möschebrunnen is the only drinking water fountain in the city, alongside the Elisenbrunnen and the Marktbrunnen in Burtscheid, both of which are fed from Aachen's thermal springs. The water only flows when it is tapped at the push of a button.
