Musee d'Art Sacre de Dijon (Dijon Museum of Sacred Art), Dijon

The Dijon Museum of Sacred Art, located in the Sainte-Anne church in Dijon, is a municipal museum dedicated to Burgundian Catholic Sacred Art. It was officially inaugurated in 1980 by Canon Jean Marilier, who also served as the museum's first curator. The museum is recognized as a "Museum of France" and has been associated with the neighboring museum of Burgundian life, Perrin de Puycousin, since 1993.

The history of the museum dates back to 1950 when the city of Dijon acquired the Sainte-Anne de Dijon church. The church was chosen to house the Burgundian Catholic Sacred Art Museum, and after renovations, it opened its doors to the public in 1979. Canon Jean Marilier played a crucial role in creating and curating the museum's collection.

The Dijon Museum of Sacred Art showcases a diverse range of artifacts including sculptures, paintings, furniture, objects of Catholic worship, and a significant number of relics. Many of these items were rendered obsolete by the Church during various religious reforms. Visitors can explore the museum through guided tours, which provide access to an extensive collection of vestments and liturgical ornaments primarily from the 18th and 19th centuries.

The museum serves a dual purpose: to collect and exhibit liturgical objects used in Catholic worship, spanning from the 12th to the 19th century, and to provide insights into the daily lives of female communities affiliated with different spiritual families.
